Emperor Akbar often used to discuss many problems with Birbal and also used to test his intelligence. At the same time, Birbal also used to solve every problem in a very interesting way.
Once upon a time, both Maharaj Akbar and Birbal were walking in the royal garden. Some serious issue was being discussed between the two, that’s why suddenly Emperor Akbar’s mind thought of taking Birbal’s test.
Emperor Akbar pointed to a wood lying nearby and asked Birbal, “Tell me one thing Birbal, this wood lying in front of you, can you make it smaller without cutting it?”
Birbal understood Emperor Akbar’s mind and while giving that wood in the hands of Emperor Akbar said, “Yes Maharaj, I can reduce this wood.”
Emperor Akbar said, “How is that good.” Then Birbal picked up a big wood lying nearby and caught hold of Emperor Akbar and asked, “Your Majesty, which is the smaller wood?”
Emperor Akbar understood Birbal’s cleverness and while giving the small wood in Birbal’s hand said, “Really Birbal, you have reduced the wood without cutting it.” After this both started laughing loudly.
